Méthodes à maîtriser
1. Expressing Opinion (Exprimer son opinion) : Pour rédiger un paragraphe ou un essai, utilisez des structures variées :
- $I \text{ believe that...}$
- $In my opinion, \dots$
- $From my point of view, \dots$
- $I am convinced that \dots$
2. Comparing and Contrasting (Comparer et contraster) : Pour montrer les différences entre deux cultures ou entre tradition et modernité :
- Similarity : $A \text{ is similar to } B$ / $Both \text{ A and B are...}$
- Difference : $A \text{ is different from } B$ / $\text{While } A \text{ is..., } B \text{ is...}$ / $\text{In contrast, } \dots$
3. Structure of a Paragraph (Structure d'un paragraphe) :
- Topic Sentence : Présente l'idée principale.

Exemples corrigés
Topic : Is globalization a threat to local cultures?
Sample Paragraph : "In my opinion, globalization can be a threat to local cultures. While it allows people to discover new things, it also promotes a single global culture, often Western. For instance, young people nowadays prefer fast food and Hollywood movies instead of their traditional food and local stories. Consequently, many unique customs and languages might vanish. Therefore, we must find a balance between being modern and preserving our heritage."
Erreurs fréquentes
- Confusing "Culture" and "Custom" : La culture est le système global, la "custom" est une habitude spécifique (ex: saluer d'une certaine manière).
- Generalizing with Stereotypes : Évitez de dire "All Arabs..." ou "All Westerners...". Utilisez plutôt "Many people..." ou "Some cultures...".
- Grammar error (Subject-Verb Agreement) : "Culture is..." (singulier) et non "Culture are...".
- Vocabulary error : Ne pas confondre "Heritage" (patrimoine transmis) et "Inheritance" (argent/biens reçus d'un parent).
