    • Exemples : Primary school, high school, university.
  2. Non-formal Education (Éducation non-formelle) :

    • Définition : Une activité éducative organisée et structurée, mais qui se déroule en dehors du système scolaire classique.
    • Caractéristiques : Elle est flexible, souvent ciblée sur des compétences spécifiques, et n'est pas forcément liée à un cursus académique long.
    • Exemples : Literacy classes (alphabétisation), vocational training (formation professionnelle), workshops (ateliers), scout movements.
  3. Informal Education (Éducation informelle) :

    • Définition : Un processus permanent et non structuré où l'on apprend tout au long de la vie.
    • Caractéristiques : Elle n'a pas de programme, pas de professeur dédié, et se fait par l'expérience, la famille ou les médias.
    • Exemples : Learning from parents, reading books for fun, learning from social media, life experiences.

Méthodes à maîtriser

Pour réussir l'examen, vous devez maîtriser deux aspects :

  1. Le vocabulaire thématique : Savoir utiliser des mots comme literacy (alphabétisation), illiteracy (analphabétisme), skills (compétences), dropout (décrochage scolaire), et lifelong learning (apprentissage tout au long de la vie).
  2. Les structures grammaticales liées au but et à la conséquence :
    • Expressing Purpose (Le but) :
      • $Subject + verb + in\ order\ to / so\ as\ to + verb\ (infinitive)$
      • $Subject + verb + so\ that + subject + can/could/will/would + verb$
    • Expressing Result (Le résultat) :
      • $Subject + verb + so + adjective + that + clause$
      • $Subject + verb + such + (a/an) + adjective + noun + that + clause$

Exemples corrigés

Exemple 1 : Distinction Question : Is a cooking workshop at a community center formal or non-formal education? Réponse : It is non-formal education because it is organized and has a specific goal, but it is not part of the official school system.

Exemple 2 : Grammaire (Purpose) Question : Rewrite using "so that": "He studies hard to pass the exam." Réponse : He studies hard so that he can pass the exam.

Erreurs fréquentes

  • Confondre Non-formal et Informal : C'est l'erreur la plus courante. Retenez que le "Non-formal" est organisé (il y a un formateur ou un centre), alors que l' "Informal" est spontané (on apprend par accident ou par habitude).
  • Oublier le "can/could" après "so that" : On ne dit pas "I study so that I pass", mais "I study so that I can pass".
