📘 Fiche de cours

L'essentiel du cours

1. Vocabulary (Le lexique thématique)

  • Cultural Heritage: Le patrimoine culturel.
    • Tangible heritage: Patrimoine matériel (monuments, buildings, artifacts).
    • Intangible heritage: Patrimoine immatériel (music, oral traditions, festivals, food, crafts).
  • Key terms:
    • Landmark: Un monument ou lieu emblématique.
    • Custom / Tradition: Une coutume ou une tradition.
    • Craftsmanship: L'artisanat / le savoir-faire.
    • Preservation / Protection: La préservation / la protection.
    • Identity: L'identité.
    • To cherish / To value: Chérir / accorder de la valeur à.

2. Grammar (La grammaire)

  • Present Simple: Utilisé pour exprimer des faits permanents ou des traditions qui se répètent.
    • Structure: $Subject + Verb_{(s/es \text{ if 3rd person singular})} + Complement$
    • Example: "Moroccan people celebrate Eid with great joy."
  • Modals of Advice and Obligation (Les modaux):
    • Should / Ought to: Pour donner un conseil (devoir/devrait).
      • Example: "We should protect our historical sites."
    • Must: Pour une obligation forte (devoir).
      • Example: "We must preserve our traditions for future generations."

3. Functions (Les fonctions de communication)

  • Describing a monument/tradition: Utiliser des adjectifs (ancient, beautiful, unique, traditional).
  • Expressing importance: "It is essential to...", "It plays a vital role in..."

Méthodes à maîtriser

  • Writing a paragraph about heritage:
    1. Introduction: Présenter l'élément (nom, lieu, type de patrimoine).
    2. Development: Décrire ses caractéristiques (apparence, origine) et son importance pour la culture.
    3. Conclusion: Donner un conseil ou une opinion sur sa protection.

Exemples corrigés

  • Question: Use "should" to give advice about heritage.
  • Answer: "The government should invest more money in restoring old medinas."
  • Question: Describe a tradition using Present Simple.
  • Answer: "Every year, families gather to share a traditional meal during festivals."

Erreurs fréquentes

  • Confondre "Tradition" et "Custom": Une tradition est souvent plus large et s'étend sur des générations, tandis qu'une coutume est une pratique sociale spécifique.
  • Oublier le 's' à la 3ème personne du singulier: "The monument look beautiful" $\rightarrow$ FAUX. "The monument looks beautiful" $\rightarrow$ CORRECT.
  • Utiliser 'must' au lieu de 'should' pour un simple conseil: 'Must' est très fort (obligation), 'should' est plus adapté pour suggérer une action bénéfique.
