  • Grammar focus: L'utilisation des modaux pour exprimer l'obligation (must / have to) et la permission (can / may).

  1. Exprimer l'obligation: Utiliser must pour une obligation personnelle et have to pour une règle imposée par la loi.
  2. Exprimer l'interdiction: Utiliser mustn't.

  • Obligation: "Citizens must respect the law."
  • Permission: "You can vote when you are 18."
  • Interdiction: "You mustn't litter in the street."

Erreurs fréquentes

  • Confondre must (obligation) et have to (règle externe).
  • Oublier le "s" à la troisième personne du singulier dans les verbes d'action (He respects the law).
  • Utiliser don't have to pour dire "interdiction" (alors que cela signifie "absence d'obligation").
