Le cours expliqué simplement, les questions que tous les élèves se posent et des exercices type examen national. Programme marocain, gratuit.

📘 Fiche de cours

L'essentiel du cours

1. Vocabulary: Leisure and Entertainment

  • Hobbies/Activities: Reading, swimming, gaming, photography, traveling, gardening, collecting stamps, playing an instrument.
  • Entertainment types: Cinema, concerts, festivals, theater, video games, social media, streaming services.
  • Adjectives to express feelings: Relaxing, exciting, boring, fun, stressful, entertaining, fascinating.

2. Grammar: Verbs of preference + Gerund/Infinitive Pour exprimer ses goûts, on utilise souvent la structure : $$Subject + Verb\ of\ preference + Gerund\ (-ing)$$

  • Exemples: I enjoy reading; She hates waiting; They love watching movies.
  • Note: Certains verbes comme like, love, hate, prefer peuvent être suivis de l'infinitif ($to + verb$), mais l'usage du gérondif ($-ing$) est très fréquent pour parler d'une habitude générale.

3. Grammar: Expressing Possibility Pour parler de ce qui est possible durant nos loisirs :

  • Can: Capacité ou possibilité générale ($It\ can\ be\ fun$).
  • May / Might: Possibilité incertaine ($I\ might\ go\ to\ the\ cinema\ tonight$).

Méthodes à maîtriser

1. Exprimer une opinion sur un loisir : Utilisez des structures comme :

  • In my opinion, [activity] is...
  • I find [activity] very [adjective]. (Ex: I find gaming very exciting).

2. Rédiger un paragraphe sur un hobby : Suivez le plan :

  1. Introduction: Nommez l'activité.
  2. Développement: Expliquez quand, où et avec qui vous la pratiquez.
  3. Conclusion: Expliquez pourquoi vous l'aimez (les bénéfices).

Exemples corrigés

Exemple 1 (Grammaire) : Consigne: Transformez la phrase en utilisant "enjoy". Phrase: "I like playing football." Réponse: "I enjoy playing football." (Rappel : $enjoy + -ing$)

Exemple 2 (Expression) : Consigne: Donnez une opinion sur la lecture. Réponse: "In my opinion, reading is a relaxing and educational hobby."

Erreurs fréquentes

  • L'oubli du "-ing" après "enjoy" : Ne dites pas "I enjoy to play", dites "I enjoy playing".
  • Confondre "can" et "might" : Utilisez "can" pour une capacité/possibilité réelle et "might" pour une supposition incertaine.
  • L'adjectif mal choisi : Ne dites pas "The movie is excitingly", dites "The movie is exciting".

  1. Yes, to talk about your abilities.
  2. Example: "I can play the guitar very well."
  3. It shows what you are capable of doing during your free time.

💡 À retenir : $Can + Verb\ (base\ form)$.

What are some "leisure" verbs?
  1. To hang out (passer du temps avec des amis).
  2. To take up (commencer un nouveau hobby).
  3. To unwind (se détendre).
  4. To go sightseeing (faire du tourisme).

💡 À retenir : Utiliser ces verbes montre au correcteur que tu as un bon vocabulaire.

How to express that a hobby is useful?
  1. Use adjectives like: "beneficial", "educational", "useful", "healthy".
  2. Example: "Reading is beneficial because it improves my vocabulary."
  3. Example: "Sports are healthy for my body."

💡 À retenir : Lie toujours ton hobby à un avantage pour enrichir ton texte.

Chno lfarq bin "I like playing" o "I like to play"?
  1. En anglais, après les verbes de goût (like, love, hate, prefer), les deux sont souvent acceptés.
  2. "I like playing" met l'accent sur le plaisir de l'action elle-même (le processus).
  3. "I like to play" met souvent l'accent sur l'habitude ou le choix que l'on fait. Pour ton examen, les deux sont corrects, mais l'usage du $-ing$ est plus courant pour parler de tes passions.

💡 À retenir : Pour tes paragraphes, utilise de préférence le gérondif ($Verb + -ing$) après les verbes de goût.

Kifach nsta3mel "might" bach n3ber 3la l'possibility?
  1. "Might" exprime une possibilité faible ou incertaine (quelque chose qui n'est pas sûr à 100%).
  2. Structure : $Subject + might + Verb\ (base\ form)$.
  3. Exemple : "I might go to the beach this weekend" (Peut-être que j'irai, mais je ne suis pas sûr).

💡 À retenir : Ne mets jamais "to" après "might". On dit "I might go" et non "I might to go".

Chno hiya l'erreur lli kndiro bzaf m3a "enjoy"?
  1. L'erreur la plus commune est d'utiliser l'infinitif après "enjoy".
  2. On ne dit jamais "I enjoy to watch TV".
  3. La règle est stricte : $Enjoy + Gerund\ (-ing)$.
  4. La forme correcte est : "I enjoy watching TV".

💡 À retenir : Retiens par cœur la formule $Enjoy + -ing$.

How can I suggest a leisure activity to a friend?
  1. Use "Why don't we...?" + base verb. (Ex: Why don't we go to the cinema?)
  2. Use "How about...?" + gerund. (Ex: How about playing tennis?)
  3. Use "Let's..." + base verb. (Ex: Let's watch a movie!)

💡 À retenir : "How about" est toujours suivi de la forme en $-ing$.

What is the difference between "boring" and "bored"?
  1. Boring (adjectif en -ing) décrit la chose ou la personne qui cause l'ennui. (Ex: The movie is boring).
  2. Bored (adjectif en -ed) décrit le sentiment d'une personne. (Ex: I am bored).
  3. Ne confonds pas les deux dans tes descriptions !

💡 À retenir : $-ing = \text{la cause}$, $-ed = \text{le sentiment}$.

Can I use "prefer" with "to"?
  1. Oui, tu peux dire "I prefer tea to coffee".
  2. Tu peux aussi utiliser "prefer... rather than...".
  3. Pour les activités, on dit souvent "I prefer swimming to running".

💡 À retenir : $Prefer + [Activity\ A] + to + [Activity\ B]$.

How do I describe a hobby I don't like?
  1. Use negative verbs: "I dislike...", "I hate...", "I can't stand...".
  2. Example: "I can't stand waiting in long lines."
  3. Always follow these with the $-ing$ form.

💡 À retenir : "I can't stand" est une expression forte pour dire que tu détestes vraiment quelque chose.

Is "playing video games" a good topic for a paragraph?
  1. Yes, it is a very common and easy topic.
  2. You can talk about: the types of games, why they are exciting, and how they help you relax or socialize.
  3. Just avoid using too much "slang" (argot).

💡 À retenir : Structure ton paragraphe avec des connecteurs comme First, Also, Finally.

What should I do if I don't know the English word for a hobby?
  1. Try to describe it using simple words.
  2. Instead of "archery", you can say "shooting arrows with a bow".
  3. Instead of "knitting", you can say "making clothes with wool".
  4. Don't panic, the goal is to communicate!

💡 À retenir : La périphrase (décrire avec d'autres mots) est une technique de survie essentielle.
