1. Les trois piliers (The three pillars) :

  • Environmental protection : Préserver les ressources naturelles et la biodiversité.
  • Social equity : Assurer l'égalité et le bien-être de tous les êtres humains.
  • Economic viability : Créer une économie qui ne détruit pas l'environnement.

2. Vocabulaire clé (Key Vocabulary) :

  • Renewable energy : Énergies renouvelables (Solar, wind, hydro, geothermal).
  • Non-renewable energy / Fossil fuels : Énergies non-renouvelables (Coal, oil, natural gas).
  • Environmental issues : Problèmes environnementaux (Global warming, pollution, deforestation, depletion of resources, climate change).
  • Actions : To recycle, to conserve, to protect, to reduce, to preserve.

    • Type 1 (Réel) : If we $use$ solar energy, we $will reduce$ $CO_2$ emissions.
    • Type 2 (Imaginaire) : If people $cared$ more about nature, the planet $would be$ cleaner.
  • Expressing Cause and Effect :
    • Cause : Because of, due to, since, as.
    • Effect : Therefore, as a result, consequently, lead to.

Méthodes à maîtriser

Rédiger un paragraphe/essai sur l'environnement :

  1. Introduction : Définir le problème (ex: Global warming is a serious threat).
  2. Body Paragraph 1 (Causes) : Expliquer pourquoi le problème existe (ex: Burning fossil fuels leads to...).
  3. Body Paragraph 2 (Effects/Solutions) : Expliquer les conséquences et proposer des solutions (ex: To solve this, we should...).

Matching (Association) :

  • Question : Match "Deforestation" with its definition.
    • A) Using sun energy.
    • B) Cutting down trees on a large scale.
  • Réponse : B.

Sentence Completion :

  • Question : If we ________ (not/stop) polluting, the earth ________ (get) hotter.
  • Réponse : If we don't stop polluting, the earth will get hotter. (Conditionnel Type 1).

Which of the following is a renewable energy source?

❓ Questions fréquentes

Chno hiya sustainable development b l-ngliya?

C'est le développement durable. En anglais, on dit : "It is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

💡 À retenir : Retiens bien la phrase "without compromising the ability of future generations".

What is the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy?
  1. Renewable energy comes from sources that never run out, like the sun (solar) or wind.
  2. Non-renewable energy comes from sources that will eventually run out, like coal, oil, and gas (fossil fuels).

💡 À retenir : Renewable = infinite / Non-renewable = limited.

Kifach nkteb essay 3la l-environment?

  1. Introduction : Présente le sujet (ex: Pollution is a big problem).
  3. Conclusion : Donne ton opinion ou un conseil (ex: We must act now).

💡 À retenir : Utilise des mots de liaison (First, However, Therefore) pour gagner des points.

Can you give examples of renewable energy?

Yes, the main examples are:

  1. Solar energy (from the sun).
  2. Wind energy (from wind turbines).
  3. Hydroelectric energy (from water/rivers).
  4. Geothermal energy (from the earth's heat).

Chno l-farq bin "environment" w "environmental"?
  • Environment est un nom (noun) : "We must protect the environment."
  • Environmental est un adjectif (adjective) : "We face many environmental problems."

What are "fossil fuels"?

Fossil fuels are natural energy sources formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals. The main examples are coal, oil, and natural gas. They are non-renewable and cause pollution.

💡 À retenir : Fossil fuels = Non-renewable + Pollution.

How can we express the result of an action?

Tu peux utiliser :

  1. Therefore (Par conséquent).
  2. As a result (En conséquence).
  3. Consequently (Par conséquent). Exemple : "We burn too much oil; therefore, the planet is warming up."

What is "global warming"?

Global warming is the long-term increase in Earth's average temperature due to the greenhouse effect and the increase of $CO_2$ in the atmosphere.

💡 À retenir : Global warming $\rightarrow$ Climate change.

Is recycling important for sustainable development?

Yes, recycling is crucial because it reduces waste, saves natural resources, and decreases the energy needed to produce new products.

💡 À retenir : Recycling = Reducing waste + Saving resources.

What is "carbon footprint"?

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (including $CO_2$) produced by our human activities (driving, flying, eating, etc.).

How do we use the conditional type 2 for the environment?

Structure : If + Past Simple, ... would + verb. Exemple : "If people recycled more, there would be less pollution."

What is "deforestation"?

Deforestation is the permanent removal of trees to make room for agriculture, cities, or to use the wood. It harms biodiversity and increases $CO_2$.

💡 A retenir : Deforestation $\rightarrow$ Loss of habitat + Global warming.
